A green Milan is in the works. A park imagined to be over 2 million square meters with about 2000 apartments is expected to hit Milan, Italy in the year 2013. The residential area will house schools, sporting facilities, and a shopping center. Milano Santa Monica is currently planned to reside around 7km from the center of Milan in a town called Segrate. The small city is designed to embrace eco-compatibility while paying special attention to energy conservation and the principles of bio-architecture. The project involves Polis Engineering of Milan, Studio Nicoletti of Rome, and the Marzorati Architecture Studio. Solar panels are used to produce warm water for civilians and photovoltaic panels cover sunny facing windows to produce electric power.
