Michael Sahm
UTC Fellow, Manager for Integrated Green Building Design
Dr. Michael Sahm is a UTC Research Fellow, the Manager of Integrated Green Building Design within the Carrier Building Systems and Services organization and Vice President for Systems integration for EMSI. In his Carrier role, Dr. Sahm is responsible for leadership of selected internal green building projects for the United Technologies Corporation (UTC). UTC has made internal and public commitments to sustainable development including definition of an internal green factory standard. This standard has led to the requirement of US Green Building Council LEED? certification of all UTC new construction. In his Systems Integration role within EMSI, Dr. Sahm contributes to early stage advanced energy system design for external clients.
Dr. Sahm is a practicing Mechanical engineer, operating in the areas of sustainable building system design and advanced building system equipment. His areas of expertise include systems integration, energy conversion systems, integrated cooling, heating and power systems, Turbomachinery and applied thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer. Dr. Sahm joined UTC in 1983 in the Pratt & Whitney engine business, holds 40 US patents, has been a practicing engineer for 27 years and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
