Niu Wenyuan
Chief Scientist & Leader of Research Group in Sustainable Development Strategy, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Mr. Niu Wenyuan used to be a visiting scholar of Nebraska-Lincoln University, from 1981 to 1984; Visiting Professor of North Iowa University from 1990 to 1992; and Fulbright Professor of Virginia University from 1994 to1995. He also serves as Commissioner of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Chinese Director of Sino-US Center for Environment & Sustainable Development; Leader of Soft Science Research Stratagem Group of Advanced Technology Plan (S-863 plan); Academician of the Academy of Science of New York; Expert of Project Deliberation of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNISCO), etc. In 1995, Mr. Niu was engaged by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as Chief Editor of <Human Development Report> (Chinese Version).
So far, Mr. Niu Wenyuan has published 16 academic works, including <Introduction of Sustainable Development>, <Sustainable Development Analyzing System>, etc. He has been the host of the editorial activities of <Sustainable Development Stratagem of the nation> by Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1990. In addition to his domestic awards “National Innovation Award” and “Scientific Achievement Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences”, he is also the winner of “Overseas Scientist Award” from the Rockefeller Foundation. |
