Maximizing the Value of Urban Rail Passenger Infrastructure
演讲题目 Maximizing the Value of Urban Rail Passenger Infrastructure
演讲提纲 Efficient movement of people to, from, and within metropolitan environments is a critical success factors for urban economic growth, community building and enhanced quality of life. Many metropolitan areas have developed passenger rail systems to support these needs often investing billions of dollars in this infrastructure. These rail networks are very complex often consisting of thousands of kilometers of track, hundreds of stations and moving millions of people each day. Despite the challenge of managing these operations, the desires of the stakeholders are clear: passengers demand proximity to home and work, ease of use, as well as on-time and comfortable service; politicians require rail to support sustainable growth, to be affordable yet also to be “fundable”; and thus the operators must provide safe, reliable and efficient systems every day. This presentation provides a sampling of strategies that passenger rail authorities around the globe are using to simultaneously meet the expectations of passengers, governments and rail operators.
