A Short Bio

English:

Guoqiang Shen holds a BARCH degree from Tsinghua University and a MS degree from Beijing University in China, and a MRCP and Ph.D. in City Planning from The Ohio State University. His research interests include urban transportation, urban design and physical planning, GIS and spatial analysis, real estate and land development, and international planning issues. He has directed or participated in more than $20 million sponsored research projects over the past 10 years on freight movement modeling at levels of international, country, state, and metropolitan, and traffic analysis zone and on freight and logistics issues such as demand analysis, economic impact, flow dynamics, security, and energy. His publications appear in various journals including Journal of Environmental Modeling, International Journal of GIS, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Papers of Regional Sciences, Geographical Analysis, Transport Geography, International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics, and International Journal of Critical Infrastructure, etc. He is writing several papers and a book on Freight Transportation Planning and Logistics Modeling.

Chinese: 清华大学建筑系本科，北京大学城环系硕士，俄亥俄州大城市规划硕士和博士，过去五年担任该校城市规划系主任。研究领域包括城市设计，区域规划，交通物流，地理信息，房地产开发，国际城市规划和发展。过去10年主持或参与了2千万美金的美国研究项目。多篇论文在国际或美国一流学术期刊上发表。

English：This presentation starts with a brief overview of globalization of world economy, local carbon need for rapid urbanization in China. Then, the presentation moves into global, regional, and urban freight transportation modeling and issues.
