BACKGROUND AND SCOPE
This conference is the 14th in a series of road safety conferences starting in 1987 with emphasis on two continents, Europe and North America. In year 2000 the conference included three continents, also Africa, and in 2005 emphasis was even broader with four continents including Asia. However, even if emphasis has been on four continents the organisers welcome participation from other continents. During Road Safety 2005 a number of delegates from South America and Australia took part in the Conference.
The main objective of the Conference is to explore emerging research and developments in the area of Road Safety. Special emphasis will be towards the application of research and to involve developing countries and countries in transition both as presenters and as delegates. A principle theme is the pros and cons of applied research done in the 'north' to problems in the 'south'.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The international research community, national safety experts, decision makers and all other with an interest in road safety development.
CONFERENCE FORMAT AND PROGRAM
The Conference will include technical sessions with oral paper presentations by key-note speakers and authors. Some sessions will consist of discussions and round tables related to key topics. In the event of very high interest and more papers than can be accepted for full oral presentation, the organisers intend to arrange poster sessions. Some key-note speakers will be invited and give presentations on selected topics.
