3rd International Environmentally Friendly Vehicles Conference
19 and 20 November 2007, Dresden
Protecting the environment and tackling climate change are two of the major challenges currently facing transport policymakers around the world. In this context, the development and design of environmentally friendly vehicles is of particular significance.
For this reason, the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs will, as part of the German G8 Presidency, host the 3rd International Environmentally Friendly Vehicles (EFV) Conference at the Maritim Hotel & Int. Congress Center Dresden on 19 and 20 November 2007.
The EFV Conference will be a contribution to the issue of "Tackling climate change and improving energy efficiency - a challenge and issue of vital importance to the world economy". Here, the road transport sector has an important role to play in conserving energy resources, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and tackling climate change.
Given that levels of traffic and infrastructure are rising worldwide, it is imperative that we take timely action to set the stage for the introduction of innovative powertrain technologies, such as hybrid drives and fuel cells, and new types of vehicle. The use of alternative sources of energy, such as biodiesel and bioethanol as blends, synthetic biofuels and, of course, hydrogen is also one of the key areas of action. With its "National Programme of Innovation", the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs is supporting hydrogen and fuel cell technology to help it along the road to success.
The 3rd International EFV Conference wants to make a contribution to the development of environmentally friendly vehicles.
